cheese, margarine, salt, oats, sugar are also furnished. from time to time hot potatoes, barley soup, pea soup, and sauerkraut. soup stock is brought in frequently which adds a solid flavor to our soup. oh yes - i mustn't forget the inevitable kohlrabi which so many fellows despise but which i, fortunately perhaps, like it very much as it resembles very closely turnip. we have also had Swiss chard, kale and lettuce but whether these were German ration or bought from our officers fund i don't know. at least the fresh vegetables sure hit the spot. Sundays an extra thick pea soup is dished out (with exceptions).
