We are residing in the north compound, R.A.F. ection, of stalag Luft iii, Sagan, Germany. That is, this is largely R.A.F., R.C.A.F., R.A.A.F., R.N.Z.A.F, but there are a number of U.S.A.A.F. men scattered throughout the barracks. i believe the whale camp was at one time mostly British but the trend of past events have altered the original outlook. The British senior officer is commander Wilson and the American senior officer is Lt. Col. Bland. Both men are quite capable and, in army vernacular, are good “Joes.”

Our living conditions are quite comfortable and though it may be cool at times during the winter there is no doubt but what every one will live, if we have to remain here.

At present there are, on the average, six men in each room which in size
