702. George TREFETHEN (<1759->1778)


* Enlisted 3 November 1775, for 8 days service in the Field Artillery Co. under Dr. Hall Jackson (on Brass Piece #1). A Private. On Nov. 18, 1776, he's listed as deserting the Co. of Ebenezer Dearing. A George Tref. of Portsmouth was captured on Dec. 24,1776 off the brigantine DALTON & taken to 'Old Mill Prison' in Eng. Was exchanged on March 15, 1779. Described as 5'9 in. tall, thick set, dark complextion, black hair.
* COULD be son of George (#215); but other than the names being the same, there's no solid proof.
