Was selected Monhegan Island Assessor in 1840 - 44, 1846, 1848, 1851 - 1853, & 1855; School Agent in 1847 - 1848; and held assorted other posts.
Bought half of his father’s mansion, ‘The Influence’, for $10 in 1829; and the western half from John Baxter for $1700. in 1840.^{[Source 129].}
Mary bore him Lettie, Dexter, Villa, and Georgia.^{[Source 42]}
