Biography:
Born, lived, & died in Lyndon,Vermont
School teacher, also a house keeper. Dabbled in art somewhat successfully.
She was very honest and extremely frugal. She was called a 'miser' by some and appearantly a bit excentric. Although a humanitarian, her main goal in life seemed to have been to acquire as much money as possible. She pinched pennies, denied herself comforts, and invested shrewdly and successfully. She cared little about her appearance, and probably bought new garments only when those she owned were beyond repair. She left the town of Lyndon a trust fund valued at $85,000 and stipulated that half its earned interest be added to the principal foerever. [Source 36: Caledonian-Record, 21 March 1992]
