I was so excited when I found your site. I recently began researching TREFETHEN ancestors on my mothers side and I have some additional information for you. i hope this is of help.
Charles William TREFETHEN #728 born in 1835 not 1838 and died 1922 (Source..gravestone, Groton Mass cemetary)
Married: Emma Jane Pavey 1842-1906 she is buried beside her husband in the
same cemetary
Sarah Ann Ellen TREFETHEN # 831 or 833 (may be listed twice) born in 1869 and died in 1948 (Source...gravestone, Groton, Mass. cemetary) I have been told that she was born in Stephanie England or Steppany England. My mother has her US citizenship papers.
Married: Charles Edmond Elliot Blood 1865-1930 (Sarah and Edmund are buried beside her parents in the same Groton, Mass. cemetary.) He always went by the name of Edmond. With them is an infant daughter, unnamed on the gravestone with the date of death 27 May 1895. Beside her is also a son Irving T. Blood Born 1899 died 27 March 1900
In addition to these children there were three others:
Elliot L. Blood, Sr Born 24 April 1897 and died 14 June 1974 (buried in the same family plot beside his mother and father) They only had one child that I know of
Elliot L. Blood, Jr. (Barney)
. He is still living today.
Married: Ruth Smalley 01 April 1893 and died 05 January 1955
Mildred Louisa Blood Born 15 July 1901 and died 21 September 76
Married Joseph Irving Cleary, Sr. Born 1900 and died 18 August 1980
They are buried in the same cemetary not far from her parents.
Mildred was my grandmother. They had four children together:
Marion Blood, Born ? but she is still living today and must be nearing 100
Married Bob Robinson, Born ? Died late 60’s early 70’s
Beside Sarah is also the grave of her brother Francis L. TREFETHEN 1880-1969
Second wife Harriet N. 1890-1956 is buried beside him. They lie between his parents and Sarah’s son Elliot.
I also know that Emma TREFETHEN832 married Henry Lindall but I could not find their headstones and they are not in the family plot. Interesting that Henry’s last name was Lindall as Elliot, Jr’s wife also had the last name of Lindall before their marriage. I do know that they were cousins Elliot and his wife but I never made the connection before now. I wonder if Doris was the daughter of Emma. (Possibly she was born 01 April 1924 or maybe one of Emma’s sons. I do not know)
my mother’s aunt Emma, (who was Sarah’s sister) was married to a Henry Lindall.
Thank you

Hi there, I recently began searching for ancestors on my mothers side and decided to start with my great grandmother. This is where I get confused...My great grandmother was Sarah Ann Ellen TREFETHEN,(I was always told it was Trefethan). Anyhow, she was the daughter of Charles and Emma, ( I am at a loss as to the middle names).
While looking through your site I found Charles William Trefethan728, who married Emma Jane Pavey. Now from what I know they were married in England and I also know my great grandmother was born in England. We found her US citizenship papers after my grandmother passed away.
The Sarah TREFETHEN I am referencing to is 831 and 833. She is listed twice.
It would make sense that this would be a connection to my family whereas I grew up in Groton, Mass and I do know for a fact that my great great grandparents are buried in the old cemetary there, but so is Sarah. This is where I get lost. I was recently told that Sarah was born in Stephanie England, if there is a town by that name. (The spelling may be wrong) There is no connection to Sarah except that she probably died young. The Sarah Ann Ellen TREFETHEN I am related to married Edmund Elliot Blood, I believe in Groton, Mass. and had three children...Mildred Louisa, Elliot and Marion.( Just as a reference, my grandmothers grandmother was also named Louisa on her father’s side.)
The coincidences are too numerous to ignore the possible connection. Mildred was born July 15, 1901, Elliot April 24, 1897 and I am not sure about Marion, but she is still living and must be close to 100. My mother seems to think that Sarah died about 1946. If you have any more information I would appreciate it, or if any of this is of any help to your research you are welcome to it.
Had I known what a project this was to start I would have though it through more clearly before beginning it, but now I just can’t stop. This is one of the most interesting and challenging things I have done in a long time.
Thank you Michele Gemma
