The Beginning

Parker Scott TREFETHEN was born in Wilton, Maine 29 August 1919.

Parker Scott Trefethen was born in Wilton, Maine, August 29, 1919. He grew up loving the outdoors: swimming, mountain climbing, Boy Scout activities, football and ice hockey. School didn't interest him much except for athletics and at one point he dropped out to help his family financially during his father's illness. He finally graduated and received a $75 scholarship check honoring the help he gave his family. The windfall was the break he needed to enroll in the University of Maine's Forestry and Wildlife Conservation programs.

His education was interrupted when the Army called for World War II duty.
