Born in Sanford, Maine.
Mercer (Red) and Irene were married on 23 January 1971 in Brentwood New Hampshire by a Justice of the Peace.
He served in the US Navy on the USS Marias.
Once discharged he resided in Seabrook, New Hampshire where he owned and operated a convenience store until he retired
In 1990 moved to Dunnellon, Florida.
Red is buried in the National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
Obituary: Mr. Mercer W. Trefethen, 73 of Dunnellon, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at his residence. Born in Sanford, Maine. He served in the US Navy on the USS Marias. Once discharged he resided in Seabrook, New Hampshire where he owned and operated a convenience store until he retired in 1990 then moved to Dunnellon Florida. Throughout his life he worked hard, enjoyed spending time outdoors: hunting, fishing and spending time with friends and family. Survivors include his wife Irene of 47 years, his two daughters Donna Spivey of Lorton Virginia, and Karen DeMeola of Ocala Florida. Three grandchildren Bryan Dumont, Brittany DeMeola and Ian Spivey. His bothers Timothy and Chris of Dunnellon Florida, his sisters Rea Reed of Kittery Maine, Judy Jean of Dunnellon Florida, Priscilla Driver of Dunnellon Florida. He was preceded in death by his brother Warren Trefethen, his sisters Joellen Cote and Janet Parenteau.
