John Henson was a musician with the military (band leader, I believe) and later a city clerk in Portsmouth. According to census records, from 1910 to at least 1940 Ruth and later John lived at different addresses on Walden Street in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The couple had 4 children: Marion R Henson 1914, John Joseph Henson Jr. 1915-1993 (Laurel Racine’s grandfather), Francis L Henson 1917, and Kathryn Trefethen Henson 1919.
